10 Things on Thursdays - Fall is Coming!

Who is looking forward to Fall? I can't even begin to express how excited I am for Fall this year!

The official first day of Fall is September 23rd so we have less than ten days to go! With that I decided my 10 things today would be 10 reasons I am looking forward to this Fall of 2014!

1- I think the most obvious reason is the new addition to our family we will meet this Fall! October 17th to be exact. James "Mills" Whatley will be joining our crew and we cannot wait to meet him. I can't figure out if Hutton is the most excited to meet him or the racecars he thinks his new little brother is bringing him!

2- Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Need I say more? I'm obsessed with these things. I have purposefully ignored every article that has popped up telling me how bad they are for me. I cannot help it - they are my favorite piece of Fall.

3- Leaves changing colors and falling. In the same way that we look forward to the blooms of Spring, I love the leaves of Fall. (Chris may not agree as he is not a huge fan of blowing leaves but it sure is pretty!

4- Auburn football. We're currently really good. Yes- we have a crazy hard schedule ahead of us but I'm hoping we continue to show that we're a powerhouse in footb

5- Fall Events - Pumpkin patches, Fall festivals, Bonfires. Granted, I don't actually have any of these scheduled but I'm convinced they will happen!

6- Family. Since we moved from Montgomery we don't get tons of visits from family but I have a feeling with a new baby coming soon we might get a few more than normal and I can't wait!

7- The smells. The smells of Fall seem to be the best. Making some apple butter to make our home smell delicious!

8- Leggings and Boots. For this pregnant and soon to be trying to get off pregnancy weight girl I don't think my body wants anything more than some leggings and boots to sport everyday.

9- Maternity Leave- Weeks at home cuddling my new baby boy- who could resist this perk of Fall!

10- Holidays! The fall is the busiest Holiday time of the year. Anniversaries, birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, preparing for Christmas! What joy and time with family these all bring. I've always wanted to host a "Friendsgiving" - anyone interested?

10 things on Thursdays

Today is Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday! Woohoo! I thought today I would list the 10 things I'm the most looking forward to this weekend!

They are in no particular order!

10- The My Kids Attic Consignment Sale! My sweet friend Melissa got me a preview pass so I get in tomorrow at 4! Woop woop!

9- Auburn Game watching and eating with my friends Adam and Amanda. I haven't seen either of them in SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo long so I can't wait to catch up. I know that laughing will be in store because Adam is hysterical.

8- My husband comes home!!!! We have only been together 5 hours (they were all sleeping hours) in the last week and we've never been away from eachother that long.

7- I'm teaching Middle School Sunday School this week. Now sometimes you have to pull words out of those middle schoolers to get them to talk but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

6- Youth Small Groups start back! I'm rocking my third year with the same group of girls. They are Seniors this year and I cannot express how much I love them and how proud of them I am. Love you Bailey, Caroline, Kathryn, Emily, Becca, Taylor, Alex, Kelsey, Carlie and Morgan!

5- Dinner with my Mom tomorrow night! I haven't seen her much lately so I'm very much looking forward to a free dinner and catching up.

4- Delicious family dinner Saturday night in honor of my husband's return! I'm not even sure what I'm cooking yet but I think I'm going to pick up some shrimp at the store and go from there. Any suggestions?

3- Sitting through a sermon at St. James with Chris. Between sicknesses, vacations, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties and more we haven't sat through a sermon together in over a month.

2- My dog not barking in the middle of the night. Anytime Chris is out of town Jacks goes on high alert. This means that any noise from the hours of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. he barks at OUT OF CONTROL! For me it means, no sleep, dark circles, puffy eyes, tired employee!

1- Family walk! I have to admit, I am not a huge walker. I should be I know. But, Jacks loves them, Hutton loves them, Chris loves them so I'm determined to learn to love them. Plus- I love being with all of my boys so if they all want to walk- then I'm up for it!

Ten things on Thursdays

Ten things on my agenda for 2012...

1~ Rely on God's wisdom and guidance to be the best Mommy I can be!

2~ Rely on God's wisdom and guidance to give me the energy to continue to be the wife I'm called to be, a great dog mom, and keep a comfortable home with food on the table

3~ Even with a busier schedule make sure to find that time for God each day so that I don't attempt to do it all myself

4~ Learn to use my sewing machine that I have had for 3 months :) Thanks sweet husband!

5~ Decorate for every holiday... yes Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Birthdays, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas!

6~ Brighten up our kitchen... paint cabinets? new countertops and backsplash? paint the pantry door?

7~ Paint our bedroom dresser with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

This is my inspiration although they are using it as a buffet!

8~ Learn to use and take lots of pictures on our new camera... We have a perfect subject this year!

9- Organize our small laundry nook and add some excitement to it!

10~ Write more songs

Ten things on Thursdays

I'm going to be completely honest. This has been a VERY hard week! No, it shouldn't be. I had an amazing weekend with one of my best friends spending the night with me two nights and a baby shower on Sunday and capped it off with Small Group Christmas party Sunday night. But, Monday came and the weather got a little crazy and I got SiCk! I've come down with some sinus/cold ick and it has worn me down. I'm so exhausted as if I wasn't already tired enough! Enough with that though, even though I don't feel well there are too many things to be joyful about and thankful for.

1~ I was truly ShOwErEd with love and adorable gifts for Hutton last Saturday! I am so blessed with such loving, supportive, and generous friends and family.

2~ Tomorrow is Friday and Friday equals the weekend which is going to equal rest for me this weekend.

3~ This Sunday continues the Advent season. I have found this special this year as we celebrate the anticipation and coming of Christ and I anticipate the coming of our sweet boy.

4~ I have almost finished my Christmas shopping. We thought very differently this year for Christmas and I'm excited about what we're giving everyone.

5~ My sweet amazing husband is cooking me dinner tonight since I don't feel well.

6~ We have had an event every night of the week for over a week so tonight is the first night in a week we will just be at home relaxing together. Can you say food, fire, tv, and our sweet pup!

7~ I'm 29 weeks pregnant. Wow! I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. Hard to believe that hot summer day when I found out we were expecting a surprise blessing was 25 weeks ago!

8~ We're spending NYE in Atlanta with Chris' family to go to Auburn's bowl game! I haven't been to an Auburn game yet this year so I'm pretty pumped about it!

9~ This Sunday I'm spending the day with two of the best friends a girl could have to celebrate Christmas so we're going to be shopping, baking, listening to Christmas tunes and just enjoying being together!

10~ Through the sickness, I was fairly productive at work today!

That's all for today folks! Say a prayer that I'll feel better and have a little more energy tomorrow!

Ten things on Thursdays

Its already Thursday again? Crazy how time flies?! Well my baby shower is coming up in about three weeks so I've had baby things on the mind recently. I was thinking about all of my favorite baby items and so I made a top 10 list. They are (in no order)... Mind you- I have no idea if any of these items are actually "worth it." Many of them I just think are so darn cute I can't stand it!

1- Nap Nanny: How can you not want a giant one of these for you to take a nap in! Precious and I'm a sucker for anything minky...
2- Bestever mat- Lamb: Well first off I'm a huge lover of anything lambs. Add a super soft mat for Hutton to lay on the floor and be super comfy. I'm in love!

3- Chicco Travel System: Well all of my mom friends have loved their Chicco's and I think the red is awesome! Perfect for Hutton! Is it weird that a stroller makes me feel grown up?

4- Samsung Video Baby Monitor: I've always wanted a baby monitor because I know I'll be psycho and once Hutton is in the crib I will want to be able to see him all the time. Awesome thing about this- we can plug it up to our tv and we can watch him on the tv in the bedroom, or the livingroom!

5- Timi and Leslie Diaper Bag: Is it a purse or a diaper bag? Definitely stylish enough to be a purse but a diaper bag still! My mom has almost convinced me not to get this because she wants me to get one I can wash... but it has water resistant lining and the outside is faux leather so its hand washable. Hmmm- I'm not totally convinced against it yet!

6- Crocheted beanies and booties: Seriously? Is there anything more precious than baby beanies and baby booties? I'm in love- maybe I should learn to crochet!
7- Daygowns: I have a weakness. Chris thinks these are the worst things ever. When I mention them and show them to him even in blue he says, "You're gonna put Hutton in a girl's dress?" I still can't help it! This is what I want to take Hutton home from the hospital in SOOO much!! The blue is in gingham and has little blue sailboats down the middle.

8- Baby Auburn Gear: You didn't know my plan was for Hutton to say "Mommy", "Daddy", and then "War Eagle?" Haha a girl can dream! We all know he'll be sporting orange and blue from birth though!
9- Baby Bathrobes: I completely understand that this item is not a necessity; however, have you seen anything cuter?

10- Last but not least, our Jenny Lind Crib: I was in a Jenny Lind crib when I was a baby and I love their traditional sweetness! Ours may be in next week :)

Thats all for Thursday folks! Alert: the beadboard is completed minus a few touch ups so I will be posting a nursery update tomorrow!

Ten things on Thursdays

I've decided that on Thursdays I want to have a 10 things list. Maybe it will be 10 gift ideas, 10 things I want, 10 best movies, who knows where it will go! I decided to start it off with 10 things you may not know about me. Enjoy :)

1- I’m terribly insecure. I am way too consumed by what people think about me. I could list you stories for days of the stress it has put on me. This is something I’m really trying to give up especially before Hutton gets here. In the past I have let myself get physically sick over the thoughts of someone being mad at me or thinking I look bad. Deep down I have to get over this idea that I’m not good enough for… (Insert whatever it may be.) Part of this is truly learning to walk into the person that God made me to be and not try to be someone else or try to change for someone’s benefit.

2- I have always wanted to be a writer, even since I was very little. I learned to read very quickly and at the age of 5 would sit down with my grandfather (Papaw) and read the newspaper. I grew up consumed in books and the love my mother had of children’s books was passed on to me. My deepest desire would be to write a children’s fiction novel. In addition, over the past year I have had this new desire of songwriting. First let me clear something up, I have NO musical talent. I leave that field all up to my AMAZINGLY talented husband. What I do love about music are the lyrics and I have this passion to write songs that truly mean something to me and other people would love. I’ve actually written some songs- I’ve only shared them with a few out there in the world but they do exist.

3- I’m terrified of becoming a Mom. Don’t get me wrong, I’m beyond thrilled. I’m just nervous about remembering all the important details during those first few weeks. Then beyond that I’m worried about the 18 years following that! This pregnancy thing seems busy and Hutton’s not even here yet!

4- Part of me wants to move away from Montgomery. Now, if/when it ever comes down to this I don’t know how I would feel because both Chris and my families are here and I love that. At the same time though I have lived in Montgomery my whole life and I only went away to Auburn from 2004-2006. There is so much out there and so many places and I just wonder what it would be like to move to a new place and really not know anybody and just start over!

5- I have so many fears! Fears of scary movies, fears of flying, fears of dying, I could go on and on! It is really a bad thing. If you tell me about something bad happening to someone else, my fearful side kicks in and I imagine it happening to me and will then worry about it. I must work on this!!

6- I LoVe to shop. Some of you may know this about me but it’s definitely a sickness. My only excuse is that I don’t only love to shop for me, I love to shop for anyone and everyone. Gift giving is one of my favorites and I love to pick out things that I think people will love. When Chris and I got married and I told him we needed a place in our budget for random gift giving (not birthdays, Christmas, showers, etc.) he was VERY confused!

7- I wish I could sing. I love to sing- all day long. I sing to Jacks, I sing to Hutton, Chris hears me sing. The only problem is I can’t sing in tune AT ALL! I used to be really embarrassed about my lack of singing ability. So much that the first 6 months Chris and I dated I wouldn’t even sing around him AT ALL. EVER. NADA. ZILCH.

8- Half of my job involves speaking in front of people. The last job I had almost 95% involved speaking in front of people. I think I’m scared of speaking in front of people. That sounds weird I know as I say “I think.” This is the issue- I don’t feel scared or nervous but suddenly when I start talking I can feel my face getting red from blushing and I can feel my voice trembling. Why? I have no idea!

9- I’m an organization freak! I dream of those closets where everything is labeled and perfectly in its place. I want a pantry where everything has its bin/container to be placed and nothing is ever out of sorts. My clothes are broken down into dresses/skirts/pants/tops and then color coded within those categories.

10- I love to make lists and I live by them. Maybe that is why I decided to devote a whole day of my blog each week to a list!
