Hard Honesty

A week ago I would have told you that motherhood has been far easier than told, expected, and anticipated. Hutton has been a great sleeper, eater, incredibly happy disposition and cuter than I could have imagined.

I feel guilty even saying this, but the reality of the challenges of motherhood hit hard.

For over a week we have had lots of sicknesses rolling through our house. The worst of it hit Hutton Monday. I picked up a pale, unresponsive, heaving, coughing, throwing up bile, boy who seemed lifeless and whose eyes rolled in the back of his head. I was terrified. I tried to be strong. I rallied the family troops, made a plan, and then sat in my car holding him crying my eyes out and praying he would be ok.
It's been a hard hard week. My baby who rarely fusses spent a whole day crying. I was home with him but I gave in and called Chris to come help me for 30 minutes so I could finish getting ready. It was the first time I really felt I had no idea what I was doing. My little bugger had a stomach bug, a cold, an ear infection, and a fever that came and went. He was worn out, I was worn out. I used up almost half of my remaining time off, I missed a wedding party, we missed our first night away together, I missed girls night out, I missed sewing class. Don't hear me wrong- I willingly traded all that to be home with my sick munchkin and comfort him but it wore me out.

Well today the worst of it has passed, Hutton went back to school and I went back to work. I'm worn out, but looking forward to maybe our second date night since Hutton was born. I'm looking forward to a weekend of rest and rejuvenation come Monday morning!

For those of you that knew, thank you for the prayers. I truly had never been so terrified as when I picked him up Monday morning. For those of you that called, texted, visited, or brought me dinner- you're truly the best! It was greatly appreciated!

Ten things on Thursdays

I'm going to be completely honest. This has been a VERY hard week! No, it shouldn't be. I had an amazing weekend with one of my best friends spending the night with me two nights and a baby shower on Sunday and capped it off with Small Group Christmas party Sunday night. But, Monday came and the weather got a little crazy and I got SiCk! I've come down with some sinus/cold ick and it has worn me down. I'm so exhausted as if I wasn't already tired enough! Enough with that though, even though I don't feel well there are too many things to be joyful about and thankful for.

1~ I was truly ShOwErEd with love and adorable gifts for Hutton last Saturday! I am so blessed with such loving, supportive, and generous friends and family.

2~ Tomorrow is Friday and Friday equals the weekend which is going to equal rest for me this weekend.

3~ This Sunday continues the Advent season. I have found this special this year as we celebrate the anticipation and coming of Christ and I anticipate the coming of our sweet boy.

4~ I have almost finished my Christmas shopping. We thought very differently this year for Christmas and I'm excited about what we're giving everyone.

5~ My sweet amazing husband is cooking me dinner tonight since I don't feel well.

6~ We have had an event every night of the week for over a week so tonight is the first night in a week we will just be at home relaxing together. Can you say food, fire, tv, and our sweet pup!

7~ I'm 29 weeks pregnant. Wow! I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. Hard to believe that hot summer day when I found out we were expecting a surprise blessing was 25 weeks ago!

8~ We're spending NYE in Atlanta with Chris' family to go to Auburn's bowl game! I haven't been to an Auburn game yet this year so I'm pretty pumped about it!

9~ This Sunday I'm spending the day with two of the best friends a girl could have to celebrate Christmas so we're going to be shopping, baking, listening to Christmas tunes and just enjoying being together!

10~ Through the sickness, I was fairly productive at work today!

That's all for today folks! Say a prayer that I'll feel better and have a little more energy tomorrow!

Tomorrow

My song for the day...
Tomorrow, tomorrow.... you know the rest.
I need tomorrow to be here, hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. My wonderful husband comes home tomorrow. I'm going to go back to work tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be a good day.

I have been sick since Saturday morning. Chris and I both had a stomach virus and he got better and I did not. We're not really sure why that is the case but I haven't been able to keep any food down in days. Words cannot describe how blah I have felt and how little energy I have. The only upside is that I'm a good 6 lbs lighter than I was on Friday. Since we're going to the beach in 2 weeks I'll take it but let me tell you... it was not worth it.

Mind you all of this sickness happened after a slightly rough week last week. Last Tuesday morning I found out our pastors Lester and Janeese Spencer who I love were reappointed to a church in Gulf Breeze, FL. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Janeese has been such a mentor for me and I have learned so much from her and my heart was just broken. She is in charge of the Women's Ministry at St. James and being on Renew Leadership Team I was like "Oh no what are we going to do." I'm much better now. While I am going to miss them terribly I know that we serve a big God and He still has BIG plans for St. James and He still wants Chris and me to be a part of that. So everyone (The Spencers, the congregation, the new minister) are all having to truly live out walking by faith and not by sight because we don't really know what is to come. I think God is trying to teach me a lot of that right now... waiting and living by faith. I am terrified of the unknown but I am having to learn that God is in control and I need to rest in that.

Then, this huge conference we had been planning for work on Shaken Baby Syndrome was Saturday. I was SOOOO excited about it! My co-worker Sara and I had worked so hard getting everything together and set up and details worked out. Well remember when I told you I got sick... SATURDAY MORNING. I went, yall I really tried to be there. I got sick before I went, got sick in the car on the way there and got sick a few times while I was there. Sadly, I got as much done as I could and then I just had to go because I could barely stand anymore. I was so sad and felt horrible about leaving everyone there in charge and I couldn't help.

So like I said, last week was a little rough. But tomorrow is a new day and I can't wait. We have Staff Breakfast at work tomorrow which is always good, I can pretty much guarantee you I won't be able to eat the normal sausage, eggs, breakfast casserole but it will still be nice to see everyone after being holed up here since Friday afternoon. So if I could ask a favor... I'm about to attempt to eat something. PRAY my little weak body can handle it!!
