Mission Day - Great Day of Service

This last Saturday, our church participated in the Great Day of Service. Methodist churches all over Montgomery spent the morning helping others with all different kinds of things. Some did yard work, some did home maintenance, and so much more. St. James collected bags of food that would feed a family of 4 for 4 days. The members of the church collected over 2 tons of food and we spent Saturday morning distributing them. Our small group and another small group took about 150 bags to Reality and Truth and distributed the bags there. It was so much fun being able to talk to those people and their excitement over the food.

Each of the bags essentially had the same things but they would have different types of snacks included. Some had Chips Ahoy, some had Oreos, some had Cheese Nips, and there was this one special bag with Nutty Butty Bars in it. There was this lady came up that didn't have one of the pre-distributed tickets but we assumed we'd have extras so we asked her to wait for a little while so that we could give all the bags out to those who already had tickets. Well wait she did! She had her bag hidden near the back so she could get those delicious Nutty Butty bars! What a joy it was to see her face when she got the bag that she wanted so much. It is no different than when we go to the grocery and are so excited to get that special bag of chips and bring them home and open it! Praying they felt some of God's love for them through us and their full bellies!

We took Hutton out and had a great time and of course everyone commented on the beautiful baby boy! I'm not sure he'll remember his first ever mission day but we will and can't wait until the days when we can tell him about it!

Rolling in the deep....

I'm well aware that this post would be made better by a video of H but I don't have one to accompany the story. So, while I was pregnant I was addicted to Adele. To the point that I think if Chris heard me play her  21 album one more time he might have thrown my phone or ipod across the room :) Well this morning I had Pandora on as we were all in the bathroom getting ready. Hutton was just chillin in his nap nanny and all of a sudden Adele's Rolling in the Deep came on and little man was pumped up! He started cooing and smiling and moving his arms and legs all around! Definitely the highlight of my day! I'm sure Chris was pleased because since Adele is AMAZING, that means little H has good musical taste!

Adventure

Our sweet, wonderful, there aren't enough words to describe them friends the Goodes are moving in about a month. Thinking about it too long brings major tears to my eyes so I'll get to the point. While I am very sad about them moving I'm excited for this new step in their lives. It will definitely be an adventure. Once they move that will be our fifth "couple friends" that will have moved away since we've been together. I have watched each of these situations develop. Some were very much dreaded. I truly had one dragging her feet the whole way to Lousiana. Now that very same friend says that she now feels like that is home instead of here where she grew up. All of their new experiences have me craving some kind of adventure.

Adventure: An unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.

Okay, I like all those words except for typically hazardous. I'm not really sure how I want to take that. I'm fairly confident that I would rather my adventures not be hazardous. But, I understand how even adventures we don't seem as hazardous very well can be.

Whatever adventures may come our way I do not know. Our adventures may not mean moving to another city, new house, etc. Our adventures may come in different circumstances. Yes, I do understand that we just had a baby and that is quite the adventure. I can't get rid of this feeling though that some type of adventure is headed our way. What will it be? God will reveal that in time. For now, we sit patiently and wait enjoying the peace and calm that fills our life now.

Been a little busy...

Okay no need to even discuss the fact that I haven't blogged since maybe January? I have a really good excuse I promise! In January to mid-February I was completely swamped at work putting on an event for 2500 8th grade students. Then on February 16th this little bugger jumped into my world and consumed every part of it!

I have never experienced anything like it and that little munchkin has brought me joy times a million. Everyday I am more excited to wake up and see his face! I won't overload you too much today but know that in the upcoming weeks you may be bombarded with pictures and such of our little munchkin!
